About the Member:

Istanbul Okan University began its academic life in 2003- 2004. It is the first university which started initial studies about the smart and connected vehicles and developed first autonomous vehicle called “OKANOM” of Türkiye. Within the scope of Transportation Technologies and Intelligent Automotive Systems Research and Application Center (TTIS, 2019) studies, “E-Hike” and “E-Hike Link” projects are funded by ISTKA- Istanbul Development Agency.

Istanbul Okan University is a member of ERTICO-Europe’s Intelligent Transportation System, ERTICO StartUp and EGVIA-European Green Vehicles Initiative Association. It has started the OPINA project with the aim of becoming one of the most important autonomous vehicle development centers in Europe. OPINA is an open innovation platform aiming at supporting innovative SMEs, start-ups, R&D companies/organisations, academicians and researchers in the development, integration, prototyping and testing of their connected and autonomous vehicle software. OPINA also provides training, mentorship and international cooperation opportunities to entrepreneurs.
