About the Member:

The history of the railways within our current national borders began on September 23, 1866 with the concession of the 130 km İzmir - Aydın Railway line.

The Railways Administration was established to carry out the construction and operation of the railway on September 24, 1872.

Following the establishment of the Republic and the decision to nationalize the railways, the "Anatolian - Baghdad Railways Directorate" was established on May 24, 1924 under the Nafıa for railway operations.

It was connected to the transportation (Ministry of Transportation) under the name of “State Railways and Ports Operations General Directorate” in 1939.

Within the scope of the liberalization of railway transportation and the reorganization of TCDD, the General Directorate of TCDD was restructured and TCDD was dutied as infrastructure operator, TCDD Taşımacılık Inc., which was newly established as a subsidiary of TCDD, was registered on June 14, 2016 and started its activities and was defined as a train operator.

TCDD still continues its activities as the relevant organization of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.
