About the Member:

Since its establishment in 1956, Middle East Technical University (METU) has always provided support in the areas needed by our country and has taken part in this framework as a founding member of ITS Türkiye. On the subject of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), which requires many disciplines to work together, METU established the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Unit under the roof of METU-BILTIR Center in 2012. The concerned unit includes faculty members working in several faculties, departments, institutes and centers of METU.

Significant contributions were made to the ITS Strategy Document and Action Plan prepared by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure. Various workshops were held to bring together ITS stakeholders (ministries, public institutions, local governments and private sector representatives).

With the infrastructure support made in recent years, a dynamic intersection system was established to collect data for scientific studies at a signalized intersection within the campus, and "Urban Transportation Traffic Research Laboratory (UTTRL)" was founded, where the images obtained from this lab can be monitored and various traffic and transportation applications within the campus can be investigated in the future.
